At the heart of Portmanteau Ldn is the belief that writing and the publishing industry should be a place of equal opportunity.


With this in mind, we promise that we give every piece of work submitted to us careful consideration, and we commission writing purely based on the quality of the submission, regardless of race, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, and class identity.


Portmanteau Ldn is an inclusive space for creativity. We want to bring the very best writing to our readers, and this can only be achieved with the consideration of many different and diverse perspectives.

Submissions are now CLOSED.​

  • Short fiction

  • Poetry

  • Creative non-fiction

  • Visual art

  • Submissions may be no longer than 5,000 words

  • Submissions to Portmanteau magazine are free

  • Accepted contributions are paid for on the date of publication

  • Each accepted contributor will receive a complimentary copy of the magazine

If accepted, you will be required to sign a contract giving us permission to publish your work, and use it to promote the Portmanteau LDN brand on our social channels. We request that you send us your social media usernames so we can follow, and promote you! 

After that it is up to you how involved you are with our @portmanteauldn social channels. Portmanteau LDN will send out a ‘Marketing and Publicity’ communication soon after acceptance. As like most magazines, we encourage our contributors to be as engaged as possible with the publication process.
